Sunday, May 17th, 6:00 p.m. parade start time Checkin Begins at 4pm and Closes at 5:15

Syttende Mai festivities end with our fun-filled parade, which is the highlight of the day. The parade features many Norwegian organizations with an impressive variety of Norwegian bunader. Children are always at the heart of our parade and we have a uniquely American perspective with marching bands, drill teams, and community groups. Seattle’s Syttende Mai has become a community celebration.

Parade units and marchers check-in station near Adams school, corner of 28th and 62nd NW. The parade begins at the corner of NW 62nd and 24th Avenue NW. The route follows south to Market Street and eastward to Bergen Place park, then turns right onto 22nd and continues south down Ballard Avenue and ends at Lone St.

So come join the family fun. We’d love to hear you say:

“Hipp, Hipp, Hurra!”

Many local streets have to be free of parked cars in order to safely stage and operate our May 17th parade that brings enjoyment to thousands in the Ballard community. The streets are kept clear near the parade staging area to accommodate increased traffic, large parade floats and vehicles and along the parade route for viewing.

You may see NO PARKING barricades up in the below areas. The signs are posted at least 48 hours in advance to give everyone ample notice. Specific times are listed on the barricades, but are generally between 3:00 and 8:00pm on May 17th. A few zones start at 1:00pm to accommodate revised Metro bus stops.
